Welsh international Gavin Williams joined Town on loan last month, scoring on his Ipswich debut at the Ricoh Arena. Since then Williams has been an ever-present and is enjoying his time at Portman Road.

He told the Clubs matchday programme (to be sold at the QPR game): "I have no problem with West Ham but I need to be playing first-team football.

"I came to Ipswich to play regular first-team football and I'm really enjoying it. All we need now is a few wins because I could imagine what this place would be like if we started going on a run.

"I know January is going to be an important month for me but I like what I have seen here and I would like to stay.

"In an ideal world a permanent deal will be sorted out but it will be down to the two clubs and we'll have to wait and see what happens next month."

Royle has been very impressed with William's since his arrival, picking him out for special praise in the last match against Wolves and he is a player Joe had been tracking for a while.

He moved to West Ham for £250,000 from Yeovil and it is thought that Pardew would want a similar fee if he was allow him to depart, as seems likely.

Another midfielder, Vermund Brekke Skard, will begin training with Town next week after successfully recovering from a groin operation and the Norweigan will get clearance to play for Town after the transfer window opens.

In other Injury news Sam Parkin has had a successful ankle operation and the plaster is due to come off in the next week.
