Owen Garvan's suspension has opened up the space to be filled by the Norwegian midfielder. With Jim Magilton likely to return to the starting lineup, Skard will take his place amongst the subsititutes.

"Vemund will start on the bench but deserves his chance and has worked hard to recover from his hernia operation," Joe Royle told the Club Website.

"He's a rock hard player who the other lads here bounce off in training when they run into him."

Royle added: "He can play as well though. He wouldn't be at this club if he couldn't handle the ball."

Vemund signed an 18 month deal in October after impressing on trial.
