The game was played at Havant and Waterlooville's Westleigh Park and the Portsmouth team included a number of experienced Premiership players.

After Portsmouth had taken the lead, Town were level within minutes, after Billy Clarke's cross was converted by Liam Craig.

After 30minutes things went in the Blues' favour, when former Liverpool left-back, Gregory Vignal was sent off for handling Jamie Peter's effort on the goal line. Billy Clarke then despatched the resultant penalty to give Town the advantage.

Pompey regained the lead though, with goals from Frank Songo'o and Aliou Cisse.

Canadian International Jamie Peters got Town back on level terms, only for Cisse to seal the victory for 10 man Pompey.
