Royle After Two More

Top of Royle's list for the new season is said to be another striker despite retaining all four of the clubs main strikers: Pablo Counago, Darren Bent, Dean Bowditch and Shefki Kuqi, who fired Town into being the First Division's top scorers last term.

Speaking of the chances of bringing a front man in, Royle told the Ipswich Evening Star: "It would be great if we could bring in a front player by the time we kick off our first competitive game against Gillingham and I am hopeful this might happen."

However much of this is likely to depend on someone from the club, ideally high earner Pablo Counago, leaving for pastures new. Only last week Town chief Executive Derek Bowden admitted the club were not in a position to sign another player on a full time deal until there was outward transfer movement.

As well as his desire to bring an extra striker to the club, former Man City boss Royle felt midfield also needed an extra face: "It would be fair to say that there are things in the pipeline and I would also like to bring in one other player to increase numbers in midfield."
