The former Ipswich manager is now working in his capacity as an assistant to Republic of Ireland's newly appointed boss, Steve Staunton.

Sir Bobby was back in familiar territory on Saturday, at Portman Road, to run his eye over two young Irishmen; Shane Supple and Owen Garvan.

Both players have been in the Republic of Ireland U19 squad this season and with the Irish focusing on the European Championships in 2008, Staunton and Robson are keen to bring through the next crop of Irish stars.

After Ipswich's 2-0 victory over Leicester, which included a goal from 18 year old Irishman Owen Garvan, Robson said of him: "I was very impressed with him. He put the ball away brilliantly for his goal and worked his socks off all afternoon."

Supple keep a clean sheet in the Town goal and Robson added praise for him too: "The young lad did all that was required of him. I was very impressed with him as well."
