Like Town stalwart Richard Naylor, Matt richards has profited from Joe Royles vision in changing his position, from full back to midfield.

The 21 year-old, who made his debut for Town in 2002 in the Uefa Cup, has enjoyed a new lease of life since his move into midfield and is now a regular started in a Town midfield where their are plenty of options.

Matt has also established himself as Ipswich's regular penalty taker, in the absence of Tommy Miller and has scored 3 times from the spot this season, taking his season total to 4.

Richards has been at the club since the age of 10 and made 125 appearances for the club. Against Leicester on Saturday, Richards will make his 100th start for the tractor boys and has marked the occasion by sigining a 3 year extension on his contract, which was due to expire this summer.
