Peters had been offered a trial at a number of First Division clubs including Derby County and the Lions and also is believed to have had a trial with Premiership giants Manchester United.

With Canada manager Jamie Peters and Town central defender Jason De Vos all advising him to move to Suffolk, it looked likely that Town were in pole position to secure the signing of the former Kaiserslautern youth player.

However as Jason De Vos told the East Anglian Daily Times, the youngster has decided to join Millwall instead: “Despite the best efforts of Frank and myself, Jaime has said he wants to go to Millwall.

"He has family in London so I can understand his decision. It is quite daunting for a young Canadian to come over here to play football, so it makes sense to go to a club where he has family to support him.”
