Counago has started just one game so far this season for the blues and in recent weeks has made it known he is not happy with the current situation under manager Joe Royle.

Royle accused the Spanish striker of lacking fitness, having a poor attitude and being in poor form after the Spaniard claimed that the former Everton manager was not giving him enough chances in the first team and he felt he was being forced out of the club.

However Counago is set to be given a chance to impress in this evenings game against Watford's second string at Portman Road, and will be hoping to play as well as he did last week against Chelsea's second string away from him where his display earnt praise from reserve team boss Steve McCall.

Speaking to the Ipswich Evening Star, Royle admitted: "Pablo needs a game and he is set to play for 90 minutes. He will be one of the players I will be watching closely."

Counago himself has always maintained he would like to stay at Portman Road and does not want to leave, and knows in order to do that he needs to fire the club back to the Premiership.

"I want to stay with Ipswich. I enjoy being at the club and I know that my only chance of staying when my contract ends in the summer is to score goals so that Ipswich go back in the Premiership." said the former Spanish Under 21 international.
