Pablo In Betis Link Again

Reports have today suggested that despite Counago's keeness to stay and even open new contract talks, Town would be in no position to turn down a bid for the former Spanish Under 21 star, as he is rumoured to be one of the most highly paid players at the club.

Betis, who are in the Spanish top flight, have took nine points from their opening six games, losing just once, which was away at Real Madrid in the opening week of the Spanish Primera League season, and as we reported last month, were very keen on Town's former Celta Vigo centre forward.

Speaking to the Ipswich Evening Star about the rumours, fans favourite Counago has denied speculation linking him to a move away from Portman Road: "I have not heard any rumours about Betis. I speak regularly to my agent in Spain and he has said nothing about it."

If such a move does happen in the new year, questions must surely be asked of the clubs ambition and long term future, and the fate of those responsible for the sale of one of the clubs last remaining prize asset, should be nothing less than their heads to roll.
