Mitchell Given First Team Call

Royle has called the 18 year old into the squad due to doubts over the fitness of regular first team centre back Georges Santos due to the current blues defensive injury crisis which has meant they will be without the services of Drissa Diallo, Chris Makin and Aidian Collins and also Georges Santos should he fail to make it, Chris Hogg is also unavaliable as he is out on loan at Boston.

The product of the Ipswich Town academy has been at Portman Road since the age of 10, and his versitallity is one of his strong points as he is able to play anywhere across a back four and also able to play in a midfield Role which leaves Town boss Joe Royle plenty of options.

Should Santos fail to make Saturday's match, it's likely that Gerard Nash will partner Richard Naylor in the centre of defence, and Mitchell, wearing the number 21 shirt, will win a place on the bench for the first time since joining the club all those years ago.

Full Squad: Armstrong, Bart-Williams, Bowditch, Counago, Davis, Kuqi, Magilton, Mahon, Mitchell, Nash, Naylor, Price, Richards, Santos, Westlake, Wilnis, Wright.
