Mahon Set For Cardiff Comeback

The Republic Of Ireland international is currently on loan from Blackburn Rovers, and has been ruled out for Town's last six games due to sustaining a hamstring injury in Town's win against Stoke City.

Mahon had recovered in time and looked likely to play some part in Saturday's clash against Sheffield United until he was struck down midweek with a virus that left him unwell and not in good enough health to be considered in the squad for the Blades game.

Speaking to the Evening Star, Whilst Mahon was disappointed to have missed the clash against Sheffield United, he revealed that the extra time out may infact help him: "I'd been flying again in training before the bug struck. You never know, perhaps it was a blessing in disguise as it gave me an extra week to rest the hamstring."

"The Sheffield United game was a big target for a comeback and now I'm desperate to be available for the Cardiff trip. The lads did great on Saturday and I'm so keen to be considered match-fit again and helping them in whatever way I can."

Mahon will play in Wednesday's reserve team clash against big spending Chelsea at Portman Road, and should he come through the game without any problems as predicated, Mahon will almost certainly be involved in the trip to Ninian Park.
