Mahon Blades Start Ruled Out

The Republic of Ireland and Blackburn man has been suffering for the last few days with a flu like virus, and with Mahon not having got any games under his belt since recovering from a hamstring injury picked up last month against Stoke, Town boss Joe Royle has confirmed he is not in contention for a start against the Blades.

"The very best he could hope for is to be on the bench at the weekend, but that's unlikely. He really needs to get a game in first." Royle told the Ipswich Evening Star.

"He would have been in contention - there's no doubt about that - but we would need to fall down in a considerable number of other places for him to be on duty on Saturday."
