Leeds Could Face FA Action

Last updated : 29 April 2007 By ITFM
Following a late equaliser by Town forward Alan Lee at Elland Road, shortly after the restart Leeds fans invaded the pitch and confronted others among ugly scenes which forced players and officials to run for cover to the tunnel for their safety and the game to be temporarily halted.

Some 30 mnutes later the game resumed following action from safety stewards to eject the troublesome fans with a Leeds corner which was cleared upfield before the final whistle was blown to condmen Leeds to all but relegation to League One.

Confirming the news, a Football League Spokesman admitted: "Clearly, passions will run high at this stage of the season. However, it is deplorable for supporters to enter the field of play at any time.

"The events at Elland Road will be a matter for the Football Association to investigate and these actions by a minority of Leeds supporters could have serious consequences for the club."

Leeds require a near miracle with a nine goal swing required involving both themselves and 21st place side Hull City on the last day of the season to have any chance of staying in the Championship.
