Former Wigan and Bradford striker Jewell found managerial success with both of his former playing clubs.

In 1999 he led Bradford to the top flight for the first time in 77 years and just managed to keep them up a year later.

A forgettable spell with Sheffield Wednesday followed, where he lasted just six months and was sacked in February 2001 after just 12 wins from 38 games.

But Jewell was back in the Premier League three years later after leading Wigan from League One to the top flight in three seasons.
