Hutchings joins Jewell at Ipswich

He was sacked as Walsall boss on January 4, after two years in charge.

Jewell, who replaced Roy Keane a week ago, has already added Sean McCarthy to his coaching staff, with Ian McParland and Tony Loughlan leaving.

Hutchings worked alongside Jewell to take Bradford from League One to the Premier League and then managed the Valley Parade club after Jewell left for Sheffield Wednesday in the summer of 2000.

He then helped Jewell take Wigan to the top flight, and again took full command once Jewell left in May 2007.

The duo teamed up yet again when Jewell was handed the reins at Derby later that year. This time Hutchings was in charge of just one game once Jewell had departed at the end of 2008.
