The 31 year old forward is Town's first signing of the Summer, and is said to be the replacement for departed England Under 21 star Darren Bent who joined Charlton in a deal that could be worth £3M to the club.

Forster, who scored seven times last term has rejected offers from several other clubs, thought both to be in the Championship and Premiership to join town at Portman Road.

In Addition, Town boss Joe Royle is closing in on a second striker, thought to be Swindon Hitman Sam Parkin to provide competition for places alongside Dean Bowditch and Forster for the clubs starting eleven.
