Delaney surgery a success

Ipswich defender Damien Delaney has left hospital after surgery over the weekend on a muscle injury. The 29-year-old left-back suffered the problem during training last week after taking a knock, with the injury developing into a blood clot. Delaney had two operations, on Thursday and Saturday, to cure the problem and he now faces up to three months on the sidelines as he battles to regain fitness. Town boss Roy Keane told the club's official website: "We've been told the surgery went well. He's been a lucky lad because the injury could have ended his career, no question."
