Brightwell was appointed onto the Ipswich Board of directors as far back as 1964, a place which he held for 31 years before becoming the Club's Vice-President in 1995.

Ken was a former rally driver before being appointed onto the Town board, and was also an estate agent who had used his connections in the trade to help find properties for players who joined the club, the lifelong blues fan was also involved in the television aerial business, and will be sadly missed by all at the club.

Speaking to the Official Club Website, Town chairman David Sheepshanks spoke of the clubs loss: "It's terribly sad news for his family, his friends and Ipswich Town Football Club. Ken was a devoted supporter of our Club from childhood to his dying day and will be greatly missed."

"I had the pleasure of serving on the Club's Board alongside him between 1987 and 1995 and found Ken to be a very knowledgeable man in both football and business. He has been a great servant to our Club and our thoughts are with his family at this sad time."

ITFM send their condolences to the family of Ken, and our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
