Dean Hammond gave the Seagulls the lead after only seven minutes but Town fought back with goals from Darren Bent, Pablo Counago and Darren Ambrose to give the Blues a 3-1 Worthington Cup victory and a place in the hat for the Third Round draw.

"It was a bad goal to give away but I was very pleased with the way the boys fought back and the three goals we scored were excellent," Burley told the clubs website.

"We were looking to carry on our second-half display against Stoke from the kick-off against Brighton and we did that.

"The players passed the ball well, the link-up play was good and we created numerous chances.

"Darren Bent could have had four or five goals on another day and the players kept going right until the end.

"We have to be satisfied with our performance, certainly the first-half display. It was always going to be hard to maintain that after the break, especially it was our third game in five days."
