Royle has not hidden the fact that he is very much looking to strengthen his squad in the January window and ITFM broke the news on Friday that Joe was looking for a striker and a left-back in January.

The Blues have strong links with Dutch players, of course, after introducing two of the greatest as the first foreigners into the english game in Thijssen and Murhen. Since then Town have brought Uhlenbeek, Petta, Holster and Wilnis on the short crossing into Ipswich.

The Blues already have chief scout Colin Suggett scouring europe with the aim of bringing in trialists. One trialist, Danish striker Sammy Youssof arrived at Portman Road today and he has been given an initial one week trial at the club.

On Saturday Vermund Brekke-Skard, the Norweigan trialist finally put pen to paper on his 18month deal. He will be eligible to play come January.
