Millwall Vs Town - The Opposition View

Last updated : 11 December 2003 By Site Editor

Going into the Game Town lay in 4th place and two points behind Norwich and Sheffield United in third and second place respectively and 6 points off current leaders West Bromwich Albion having played 22 games.

Meanwhile Dennis Wise's Millwall lay exactly half way down the Nationwide League First Division and are 6 points behind the Division One play-off zone and 7 points clear of the Division One relegation zone

ITFM asked Neil of Millwall MAD to give us his views on this weekends game at The New Den, and they follow below.

How do you feel your doing this season?
We playing below par. Had Mark McGhee played his strongest team instead of trying to alienate the old guard we would be in the top three now. This sounds a bit far fetched considering our current position but McGhee literally threw the points away against the likes of Gillingham, Crewe and Palace by dropping establish first teamers in favour of inexperienced youngsters who were found wanting. Dennis Wise has pulled it around but we haven't won for around five games, although this has more to do with our injury crisis - thirteen first team players still out including five of our strikers - than playing crap.

Who do you think's your best and most on form players at the moment?
Midfielder Tim Cahill is on fire at the mo and is running around the pitch like a Tazmanian devil (with the raspberry blowing) while both Abou Fofana and Peter Sweeney are enjoying a purple patch on the wings.

Are there any hidden gems in the squad we may not have heard of?
Peter Sweeney and Abou Fofana. Sweeney has "a wand of a left foot" (Mark McGhee) and has finally broke into the first team under Dennis Wise while Fofana was signed from Juventus (I kid you not) and only runs in one direction - towards the goal.

How do you think Ipswich will do this season?
There or thereabouts, unless Joe Royle loses the plot again...

Which Ipswich players do you think could cause the most problems for your side?
Former Lion Jermaine Wright could be a handful as could Shefki Kuqi, but Kelvin Davis will probably be the thorne in our side as we can't score for love nor money at home at the moment.

What sort of line-up can we expect from you?
An attacking 4-4-2 formation with at least two players out of position!

Predicted score?
Well, we've conceded very few goals at home this season but have failed to score at The Den in three so another 0-0 is on the cards!

Thanks to Neil of Millwall MAD for the answers.
