Town Boss Joe Royle was happy with his sides win over former Blues manager George Burley's side, but admits Town were not at their best during the match: “We weren’t at our best but I can’t remember many panic moments around our goal.

“We got a great start with Darren Bent’s goal but seldom do you get an avalanche of goals to follow and that’s the way it turned out.

"We had two or three lads playing out of position at the end of the game so I’m pleased with the win.”

Meanwhile former Town player and manager Burley admits that he feels his former club will gain automatic promotion: “I said before the season that Ipswich would be my favourites to go up and I stand by that.

"From what I have seen so far, I would put them and West Brom as the two teams to go up in the automatic places.

"They have got a strong squad and some terrific players and I fully expect them to win promotion. They are a good side as it is without giving them two goals like we did. It was Christmas come early for them.”
