Ipswich 1-1 Reading - Player Reaction

Town midfielder Ian Westlake thought that Reading came to Portman Road to defend: "I think they came looking for the draw, they played quite defensively. At the end we were pushing for the winner. We all felt their goal was offside.

"They were always going to make themselves hard to beat; as soon as they got the equaliser they didn't push forward much. They were hard to break down."

Meanwhile Matt Richards did not appreciate the peformance of the officials either: "We had some good opportunities to win. I thought the referee was abysmal - I really did not understand some of his decisions.

"We deserved the three points; we were disappointed to get the draw. Jason was off the pitch when they scored but it was clearly offside; the linesman was level - I don't know how he didn't give it."

Defender Jason De Vos also thought Reading's goal was offside, but admitted Town didn't take their chances: "I thought we played well in the second-half and were a little unlucky not to win it. We deserved three points today.

"We knew it was going to be tough, they're a good side and are dangerous on the counter-attack but we coped with it pretty well. We had some good goal scoring opportunities that we failed to take.

"I was off the field when they scored but we've seen the tape and Reading were three yards offside when they scored, but these things happen."
