Derby Woe for Royle

The former Everton boss decided to keep both Shefki Kuqi and Ian Westlake in the side to face the Canaries, and with Shefki's influence, the boring, and incredibly unsucessful long ball game was in full swing at Portman Road much to the annoyance of the capacity Crowd.

However after the match Royle incredibly defended his tactics, and even went as far as saying his side were hard done by: “We were not on our game at all but having said that, they only had two efforts at goal so I think the scoreline was harsh."

Royle blamed the first goal for a foul on goalkeeper Kelvin Davis: “I thought it was a foul but we are not making an issue of it and the referee had a good game overall." he said in the after match press conference

"Norwich defended very well and gave a good away performance. Darren Bent had a good chance and Alan Mahon’s free-kick was well saved by their ‘keeper, who played well throughout.”
