Speaking in the after match press conference, Town manager Joe Royle said : "It was a good freekick. It was a good delivery and he is capable of that. You can't blame the keeper."

"We didn't deserve to lose. Their keeper was man of the match. How we lost I don't know.

"Whether it's bad finishing or good goalkeeping we don't look like scoring at the moment. We have to address that.

"In the first half our forwards were poor. We had one shot on goal and in the second half we had 10 attempts and that was the difference."

Also Speaking after the Match, Crewe manager Dario Gradi spoke of his delight of his sides 1-0 win : "We played very well particulary in the first half. We thought we knew how they were going to line up and play and we practised accoridngly.

"In the end they were hitting a lot of channel boys and I said to my centre backs at half time that the only way Ipswich were going to score was if one of them fell over or did something stupid. As long as they kept dropping off and heading the ball out they wouldn't have any problems.

"They changed though and caused us some more problems and were much harder to play against after half time. We thought they might do that and Adie (Moses) wasn't sure of how we play against one centre forward and we got ourselves in a bit of a muddle.

"We scored a super goal though and it punished Ipswich becausethey gave away some silly fouls. The keeper invited him to put it there and Kenny put it in."
