Ricky Ravenhill rocked Ipswich with a goal in the 6th minute and Jermaine McSporran fired home in brilliant style seconds after the interval.

It was no more than Doncaster deserved for a tremendous hard-working display in which they hardlyg ave their opponents a moment's peace.

Ipswich started well with Darren Bent forcing Andy Warrington to save at full stretch after unleashing a cracking shot in the third minute.

But there was an air of casualness about their play which Doncaster were quick to exploit.

Ravenhill nipped in to score in fine stylej from a narrow angle 3 minutes later after Guy Ipoua had headed on a cross from Michael McIndoe.

The goal gave Doncaster confidence and they enjoyed a 20 minute spell on top as Ipswick struggled to match their lively attacking play.

When the bvisitors did show more urgency Dean Bowditch had a left foot 20 yard volley tipped around the post by Warrington in the 20th minute.

But Doncaster were always looking to push forward themselves and both John Doolan amndNicolas Priet both went close just before the interval.

Iopswich wer5e caught napping at the start of the second half when McIndoe picked out McSporran with a cross from the left and the Rovers winger volleyed home from an impossible looking angle to the delight of the home fans.

Ipswich finally woke up to the fact that they were in danger of going out of the Competition and Bent and substitute Shefki Kuqi both had shots saved by the agile Warrington.

But the home side defended superbly and never looked in danger of surrendering their lead with Ipswich leaving their effort far too late.
