Should the striker feature against Doncaster Rovers, he would become the youngest ever player to appear for Town at just 16 years and 11 days, beating current record holder Jason Dozzell who was 46 days older when he made his debut over 25 years ago.

Speaking to the Official Club Website, Wickham said: "It's been great to be involved with the first-team this week and the manager has said that I may get my chance before the season is over

"If that happens, it will be fantastic. I've been happy with the progress I have made this season. I've scored a few goals but to be involved with the first-team will obviously be something else.

"I know Jason Dozzell has the record as the youngest player and if I beat that, it will make me very proud but the most important thing for me is to keep improving and showing what I can do.

"If I get the chance to play in the first-team this season then I know it will be a big step up for me but I'm confident I will be okay. It's a physical league but that doesn't worry me. I feel ready for it."
