With regular backup keeper Lewis Price and academy youngster Shane Supple ruled out of sitting on the bench for this weekends East Anglian Derby at Portman Road due to picking up injurys, Town boss Joe Royle was forced to act swifty to bring another keeper in.

25 Year old Abbey has had spells at Uuton Town, Chesterfield, Northampton Town, Stevenage and Maccesfield in his career so far, and although never having held down a regular first team spot at any of his clubs, Blues boss Joe Royle feels he could do a job for the club if required.

"Nathan will spend a month with us while Lewis Price recovers from injury," said Royle to the Official Club Website.

"He has trained with us and looks to be just what we need at the moment. He has worked with Kelvin at Luton and is also well known to Malcolm Webster, our goalkeeping coach."
