Town make Ablett plea

Ipswich have asked for coach Gary Ablett to be allowed privacy after he was diagnosed with a form of blood cancer. Ablett was taken ill at the club's training ground last week and is currently in a Suffolk hospital receiving treatment. It emerged the former Everton and Liverpool defender has non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. A statement on the club's official website read: "Everyone at the club is devastated by the sudden onset of such a serious illness. "Our thoughts are with Gary and his family and we would ask for the family to be given the privacy they require at this difficult time." Ablett had linked up with manager Roy Keane at Portman Road in a coaching role after leaving Stockport following their relegation to npower League Two.
