Two goals in the first 20 minutes sealed the victory for Fulham, with an own goal from skipper Kevin Horlock and a Yinka Casal strike.

24 year old Norweigan Vermund Brekke-Skard, signed from Brumunddal, after a trial in October, played 80 minutes and suffered no ill effects after his first competitive match since his Hernia operation in November.

Skard is still lacking match fitness and Royle will want him to come through a few more reserve outings before considering him for the first team.

With Town facing Liverpool this Thursday in the next round of the FA Youth Cup, Steve McCall left out some of the youngsters, however, Daryll Kinights got a short run-out, as he continues his comeback from a serious ankle injury.

Lewis Price's recent admission from the first-team meant he played whilst Dean Bowditch and Dean McDonald started up-front.

Dean McDonald, who was subject of a £75,000 bid from Hartlepool at the end of last week, is attracting interest from Boston United and their manager was at Portman Road to watch this performance.
