Royle rues out McEveley move

McEveley has been left out of the squad to face Brighton and Watford and Royle said that it was almost certain now that Jay will not be moving to Portman Road on a permanent transfer: "It would be hard for us budget-wise to sign Jay permanently.

"I still want to bring in a defender for next season, but I am looking for a centre-half who can play full-back rather than a full-back who can also play in the middle of the defence.

"Neither Jay nor Jim is going to be with us next season. With that in mind, I have left them out of the next two games so that I can take a closer look at players who will definitely be here."

In other news, Kevin Horlock, who will be leaving Town in the summer when his contract expires, has turned down the chance to join loan club Doncater on a permanent deal. Doncaster are now said to be interested in taking Jim Magilton on a contract for next season, with Jim likely to be given a farewell appearance at Portman Road against Derby next Saturday.

Vermund Brekke-Skard is likely to take Magiltons place in midfield for the game against Brighton.
