Speaking to the Official Club Website the former Everton boss said: “I would say at this stage that it’s unlikely we will bring anyone in.

“With Matt Elliott here on loan now and Drissa, John McGreal and Georges Santos all recovering from injury and Richard Naylor making progress as well, we are okay for central defenders.

“And after Dean Bowditch’s hat-trick against Watford on Saturday, you could say we have found a new striker. We have got a squad that I am happy with at the moment but you can’t totally rule us out bringing in a new player before Thursday.”
