The former Barcelona attacking midfielder spent the tail end of last season on loan at Portman Road, and rumours for many weeks have linked with player with a return to the club on loan in the current campaign.

However Spurs boss Redknapp appears to have poured cold water on the chances of the Town fans favourite returning to the club, by insisting the youngster will have a bigger part to play in his clubs season this time around.

Speaking to the press this morning Redknapp said: "Giovani played in the Carling Cup and did very well. He looked lively, so hopefully he can continue in that form.

"If he dedicates himself to being a top player, then he will have a part to play here. He's got all the ability, but it's up to him now."

During his time on loan at Town last season, 20 year old Dos Santos found the net four times in eight games, including two as a substitute.
