Persistently Standing Fans Warned

It's understood the club has sent out a significant number of letters, mostly to fans in the lower North stand of the ground to warn them that the club will not tolerate persistant standing during matches.

Town bosses are forced to keep their supporters seated under Football Licensing Authority regulations or face the capacity of Portman Road being reduced.

Should supporters not obey the rules that are set out by the FLA, Town could use a range of punishments on their supporters, including, but not limited to a ban from attending further games at the ground.

Speaking of the situation, a club spokesman confirmed: "We have sent out a significant number of letters to supporters who have been identified as those who persistently stand, bringing to their attention that it breaches the stadium's by-laws.

"We are not trying to be killjoys and we understand supporters will stand at certain points in the game, and that is fine.

"But the Football Licensing Authority has decided action must be taken against fans who persistently stand. We will continue to monitor the situation and take whatever action is deemed appropriate at the time."

Earlier in the season three fans were banned from the ground for persistant standing.
