Nugent reports denied

Derek Bowden was quick to deny reports that Ipswich Town have tabled a bid for Portsmouth striker David Nugent.

There were numerous reports linking David Nugent with a £3.5 million pound move to the Blues, but Bowden has stated that "No formal offer has been made".

There is no doubt in Jim Magilton's interest in the player, who Jim reportedly failed to sign on loan back in March 2008. Jim expressed his interest on Nugent again on Friday but has said that's as far as it has goes.

Although David Nugent has expressed he wishes to remain at the club, Jim is hoping the attractions of first team football is enough to change his mind and lure him back to the Coca Cola Championship.

David Nugent was transferred to Portsmouth from Preston North End, for a fee to be believed around £6 million. However his career never really got going with Portsmouth and he was linked with a move to Derby County, within the same transfer window he signed for Portsmouth.

Portsmouth are likely to allow the player to leave if a good offer comes in, although Nugent's willingness to leave could prove a stumbling block for many clubs.
