Quinn was subbed at Stoke last weekend suffering from an ankle injury that was feared to be damaged ligaments. But a scan has revealed no serious injury and he could be challenging for a place in the team at St Mary's.

Town physio Matt Byard told the official website: "Alan had a scan and saw the specialist and there is no ligament damage around the ankle, he has some pain at the front of his ankle joint, with some bone bruising there and that will be monitored through the week.

"We will continue his recuperation over the next few days and he is unlikely to train again with the first-team until Friday when his fitness will be reviewed but as we stand at the moment, he has certainly not been ruled out for the weekend game at Southampton."
