No More Signings Without Sales

In what seems to be a u-turn from the club, which indicated last week that there was room for another player to be brought into the club without a further sale, Bowden said the club was not able to afford the wages of another player unless there was outgoing transfer activity.

Speaking to the Official Club Website, Bowden said: "We have signed Jason De Vos and Kevin Horlock and has Joe has already said, that's it for now. Mark Rivers is on trial and if Joe decides he wants to sign him on a permanent deal then someone will have to move out of the squad first."

However, despite Bowden claiming that Royle has already said that there will be no new arrivals, Royle indicated to the Ipswich Evening Star yesterday that should Rivers play well in the clubs pre-season campaign, he will be offered a full time deal with the club.

Despite the fact no new full time signings will be allowed before sales are made, Bowden admits Town boss Royle will have some money to bring players on loan to the club: "The loan system is being used more and more now given the financial situation in the game and Joe used it here to good effect last season.

"It something that I can definitely see happening again this year and Joe will be given a loan budget to work with."
