ITFM reported earlier today that Royle was keen to send Nash out on loan to gain first team experience and a deal with Hartlepool has now been done.

Nash's Ipswich career has been plauged by injury and the defender has had 2 cruciate knee ligament operations already. But he is now back to fitness after a few outings in the reserve's and is relishing the prospect of first-team football at Hartlepool: "It's a great chance for me.

"I'm looking forward to playing some first team football at Hartlepool and it's just what I need at the moment.

"I've being playing for the reserves over the last month and it's the next step up for me," he told the club website.

Gerrard will be hoping a successful loan spell could help his chances of adding to his only senior appearance for Ipswich to date, which came in the 6-1 drubbing of Burnley, back in October 2003.
