Miller move to Sunderland confirmed?

A local newspaper in the North-East is claiming that Tommy Miller will join Sunderland on a free transfer, a move which will come as little surprise to Town.

According to the article, Miller has confirmed he will sign on the dotted line for the Mackems next Wednesday, and has informed Sunderland boss Mick McCarthy of his decision.

Miller will apparently undergo a medical on Wednesday morning and provided this goes well, will officially complete his move to the North-East in the afternoon.

This news will be a big disappointment to Town boss Joe Royle, who had been hoping that the goal-scoring midfielder would renew his contract with Ipswich.

With Royle looking to sign an experienced goalkeeper to challenge Lewis Price for the number one jersey, he must now step up his search for a midfielder to replace the popular Miller, should these rumours be confirmed.

Royle must also find a man willing to become Town's new penalty taker, as Miller will leave Portman Road with a 100% record from the penalty spot.
