The former Sunderland full back has not played for the club since August where he sustained what was a mystery injury, but after many setbacks, there now appears to be light, and first team action at the end of the Tunnel for the man George Burley brought to Portman Road.

"If Chris plays next week and comes through, and we have him available for the run-in, it will be like signing a new player." Town manager Joe Royle admitted.

Speaking of the Teams three day break to Tenerife, Royle added: "Chris, more than anyone, needed a change of scenery. He's been ploughing round our training ground for months with no sign of a game, but he's now the best he has been in a long, long time."
