"We know what it means to the supporters," he told BBC Radio Suffolk.

"Everyone's been frustrated the last two or three weeks and we need to give them a positive performance and hopefully a good result."

The Town manager has yet to lead his men into a clash between the two sides after City's temporary drop into League One last season, but he has a fair amount of derby day experience to fall back on.

He has featured for Nottingham Forest, Manchester United and Celtic against local rivals during his playing days and got his first taste of a derby from the dugout at Sunderland.

Alan Quinn scored the decisive goal the last time the sides met"We are looking forward to it, we didn't have it last year," said Keane.

"I've been fortunate enough to be involved with derbies.

"Even Forest against Notts County it meant a lot to them, and Celtic-Rangers, United-City, Newcastle-Sunderland was pretty spicy let me tell you.

"We'll expect the same on Sunday. A derby means everything to the supporters.

"Hopefully our fans will travel in good numbers and good spirits and get behind our team, I know they will, and we'll try to give them something to shout about."

Notorious for being a feisty midfielder himself, Keane could be tempted to send his Blues out all guns blazing at Carrow Road.

"We'll see on Sunday in the dressing room, we'll gauge it," he added.

"It's about getting the balance right, if there's a ball there you've got to go and try and win it but let's not be giving away needless free kicks or red cards.

"You're not going to get a second on the ball, it will 100mph."
