Speaking of the capture of the 20 year old, Royle said: "We have taken Jay McEveley on a season-long loan from Blackburn. He can play left-back or left-sided centre-half. We have been waiting for him for a while, but hopefully he will be worth the wait.
"He has played Premier League football and done well and last season he did well in this division with Gillingham. He needs a couple of weeks to get fit, but we have that now. He has a good left foot and is a good athlete."
