Ipswich V Huddersfield at Portman Road - Match Preview

McCarthy pondering options

Mick McCarthy must decide whether to stick or twist as Ipswich play host to fellow play-off hopefuls Huddersfield.

On the back of last weekend's 1-0 victory at Charlton, the Town boss surprisingly made four changes for the midweek visit of Blackburn as he opted for fresh legs.

But he watched it pay dividends as recalled trio Luke Hyam - fit again after a back injury - Frank Nouble and Carlos Edwards all found the net in a 3-1 triumph, while Stephen Hunt enjoyed his full debut.

Paul Anderson, Ryan Tunnicliffe, Jay Tabb and Daryl Murphy will all be pushing for recalls as Town aim to record a third successive victory, while striker Paul Taylor (shoulder) will again be assessed.

Huddersfield midfielder Adam Clayton will return to contention following suspension.

Clayton sat out the midweek win at Bolton due to a one-game ban and Keith Southern returned to the side after a calf injury, so boss Mark Robins must decide whether to make further changes.

Striker Martin Paterson missed out on Tuesday night due to a hamstring strain and remains doubtful, while his replacement at Bolton, Danny Ward, is struggling with a dead-leg which forced him off at half-time.

Central defender Peter Clarke remains sidelined with knee ligament damage, but Robins has no other selection issues as his side bid for a fourth straight league win.
