Good news for Town on injury front

Ipswich Town have received an injury boost after hearing Alan Lee's groin problem isn't as bad as was initially feared.

The Republic of Ireland striker, who scored the equaliser in last week's 1-1 draw with Burnley, has been struggling with the problem for a number of weeks but will return to training after Saturday's game with Cardiff.

"Alan has been carrying the injury since the Derby game last week but did say the discomfort was easing," Town's head of sports science Dave Williams told the club's official website.

"He's had a scan and things are looking okay. There is a little fluid around the area but no obvious sign of a tear.

"It is good news and the rest will help him. He would have been struggling to make Saturday but should be back in training next week."

Meanwhile, Dean Bowditch has returned to Portman Road after picking up a groin injury while on loan at Brighton.
