Clapham: a target?
Royle is known to be after a goal-scoring midfielder after failing to replace Tommy Miller after his move to Sunderland last summer. Miller could make a shock return to Town though, with the Wearsiders keen to cut their wage bill before they enter the Championship. Miller only has a year left on his existing deal in the North East.

At the weekend Birmingham began their own relegation cull by releasing left-back Jamie Clapham. The former Tottenham youth player, who George Burley turned into a success at Ipswich could see the prospect of returning to Town as an appealing one, whilst Wolves are reportedly interested in capturing his signature. Royle is keen to capture a left-back to compete with young Scott Barron and Jay McEveley now looks set to sign a contract at Blackburn.
