Jim will be happy to pass armband to Jason
The new boss had been Royle's captain ahead of the 2005/2006 campaign but Magilton's increasing role as a fringe player meant that Canadian centre-back and vice-captain, Jason De Vos, unofficially took over the role.

Before Royle departed in May, he declared that De Vos would step up to the full captain role and Magilton has already confirmed that the strong former Wigan captain will lead the Blues under his regime.

Magilton told the club site he was very happy to install Jason as captain: “Jason will be skipper for next season. He's an outstanding individual and will take over the armband.

“He is a leader in the dressing-room and is someone I have the utmost respect for.”
