De Vos: Staying at Town
The 32 year-old was rumoured to be a target for premiership clubs and admits it is his ambition to play in the English top-flight but he believes it can be achieved with Ipswich Town.

De Vos told the club website: "The progress the young players have made here over the past year has made me feel very confident about the future and while the Play-offs look unlikely this year, I see us as strong challengers for promotion next season."

"If I felt there was a chance of taking a step up somewhere else then I may have had to give more thought to my future but thats not the case. This club is heading in the right direction and that made signing the contract the easiest decision of my career.

"The ambition of the Club matches mine, the coaching staff are fantastic, the facilities are first class. We have a terrific fan base and everything is geared towards moving forward."

With Jim Magiltons departure from Portman Road imminent in the summer, De Vos will be leading the Blues out as full first-team captain in 2006/2007.

Another Town defender also signed a new deal yesterday.  Chris Casement, a Northern Ireland U19 international put pen to paper on a deal lasting until the summer of 2008.  Chris was due to sign the contract ovewr the summer but decided to sign it early.

With the suspension of Richard Naylor, Casement has found himself breaking into the first-team over the last few matches.

In other news, released academy defender Jack Haverson has begun at trail at League One outfit Bournemouth.
