The academy product wo scored twice to send Brentford up to League One football next season. has struck 18 goals this season whilst on loan spells at Darlington, Brentford and Northampton, but was told by previous boss Jim Magilton he can leave in the summer.

However with new manager Roy Keane, who also hails from Cork being appointed, Clarke feels he yet could stay at Town beyond the expiration of his current contract in the summer.

"I met Roy last Thursday. Hopefully he wants to have a look at me and I can impress him and stay at Ipswich, which is what I want." said Clarke in relation to his future.

"But if things don't work out at Ipswich then coming to Brentford would definitely be something to think about. Being here has been great."

Clarke also admitted that Roy Keane was an ideal of his: "I've been watching him since I was a kid. Being from Cork as well, he's an idol of mine. He's lovely, and exactly how I thought he'd be."
