Friday July 7th is the final deadline for the supporters share issue, with all funds raised going straight into new manager Jim Magilton's summer transfer kitty.

Magilton already has three players on trial; Colin Healy, Eugen Bopp and Alexis Bertin whilst also tracking out-of-contract Saints midfielder, Matt Oakley.

Oakley turned down a one year deal at St. Mary's and is holding out for a two year deal elswhere but Magilton is not confident that the club can meet the players demands. “I would love to get Matt here. He is exactly what we are looking for and I am definitely interested in him.

“As always, however, it is about what we can afford and at the moment he seems to be outside our price range. But I'll talk to him and see what we can do,” the Town boss told the Evening Star.

Much will depend on how much the share issue gives the former Northern Ireland international to play with but other names being linked are Rangers duo Nacho Novo and Gavin Rae.

The squad trained at RAF Wattisham on Thursday and Magilton said he was pleased with his trio of trialists and will be giving them a try out in the clubs first pre-season friendly at Boston on Saturday.
