The product of the Ipswich Town academy has not featured in the clubs first team since September after picking up a knee ligament injury, which was not helped by playing for England Under 21's in early October before he had fully recovered.

Bent however made his comeback alongside Dean Bowditch and Alun Armstrong in a three man strike force in the reserves 5-1 win over Nottingham Forest at Portman Road last night, setting up two of the goals before being withdrawn as a precautionary measure at half time.

Speaking to the official club website, Town manager Joe Royle confirmed: "Darren has come through the game without any problems and will be in the squad for the game at Derby,"
